Flower shade from the brand BP., organised by the design studio Phyle. Several types of petals are packed in acrylic as if time had stopped.
“4種類の花を使った色のバランスや密度など、花が鮮やかで、浮遊しているようにみせたかったので、ライトをつけている時の影の見え方、消している時の花の鮮やかな色にこだわり、4色の花を程よい密度で配置することで、まるで空間に花が浮いているような、そんなランプシェードを作りました。
“実際試作を2年程やって、アクリルの種類3パターン試し、花もいろいろためしてみたのですが、アクリルの中で色が抜ける、花びらの形状がきれいに残らない、板厚の中でおさまる花、などかなり使える花が限られてきた感じです。(一点もののシェードを含めると6年前から！)
215φのサイズに対してのそれぞれの花の分量を細かく決めたのと、壁に映る影がきれいにみえるようなにアクリルにも工夫をしています。”
I wanted to make the flowers look vivid and floating by using four different types of flowers, including the balance of colours and density, so I focused on the way the shadows look when the light is on and the vivid colours of the flowers when the light is off, and by placing the four different coloured flowers in a good density, the lampshade looks like the flowers are floating in space. We created it.
‘In fact, after about two years of prototyping, I tried three different types of acrylic and a variety of flowers, but I felt that the number of flowers I could use was quite limited, as the colours would bleed through the acrylic, the shape of the petals would not remain beautiful, and the flowers would not fit within the thickness of the board. (Including one-of-a-kind shades, it’s been six years!)
We have decided on the amount of each flower for the 215φ size in detail, and we have also worked on the acrylic to ensure that the shadows on the wall look beautiful.’
